We&#8217;ve seen victims lose thousands of pounds, have their identities stolen, their confidence and self-esteem shattered, and, in some cases, they have even had their car seized for driving uninsured.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s really important that we spread the word to help protect young drivers from ghost brokers.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Around 115,000 fraudulent motor insurance policies were found by the IFB in partnership with the insurance industry between 2023-24.<\/p>\n<p>Ghost brokers are believed to be responsible for thousands of cases up and down the country.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to tell if you are dealing with a &#8216;ghost broker&#8217;?<\/h2>\n<p>Here are some of the signs that you might be dealing with a ghost broker:<\/p>\n<p>1. The policy may be unrealistically cheap, with an upfront quote.<\/p>\n<p>2. The seller only wants to communicate in private direct messages on social media or WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p>3. The advert may look unprofessional.<\/p>\n<p>4.
